New Look, New Programs

So I haven't exactly hit my groove with my FTC Blog yet, but here is some more updates. On the operational side I am excited that the new marketing material will be arriving next week. It will be the next phase in developing materials to tell the story of what we are doing here to help kids.

On the opportunity to give side, we have launched our Family Food Box program with a test site in Brampton. The basic but flexible structure is that $2,000 a month will feed ten families of four twelve to fifteen days worth of food a month. That is huge. It is also huge that 100% of boxes impact families that have children.

One of the things that FTC is seeking to accomplish is a balance between domestic and international work. The Family Food Box program is one of the ways that we are seeking to help those who are hurting right in our own communities.

New Things

Last week was an exciting one as our regional rep went to The Meeting House in Brampton to announce the launch of a test project with them. Our President also had a video shown to all of the sites of the Meeting House as well talking about our partnership and who FTC Canada is.

We are testing something we are calling the Family Food Box Program. The program is simple: Get three days of food a week to a family of four who really need it. Food that is healthy and high quality, with meal plans that line up with the Canada Food Guide. Deliver it through partnerships that will work towards helping that family move from a place of need to a place of independence.

The interest as we talk about it to various potential partners is incredibly high. Of course, money is always needed to make these things fly, so give me a call if you are interested in donating and helping us launch this program.

An Eye for Brenda

One of the things that I am charged to raise money for is our new initiative which helps children in situations where they are in need of more complex, urgent or difficult interventions medically.

Recently we launched into this by helping a girl named Brenda who lives in the slums of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We found her while we were on our medical trip there earlier this year.

We have raised a little more than 25% the $10,000 that we needed for the operation which has now been successfully completed. We are able to fund the difference right now out of our general funds, but would like to raise the full amount specifically for this project so that general funds can be used for more general work like feeding programs. If we happen to raise more than we need, we will apply the excess to either our next medical trip in February 2008 or another similiar situation that presents itself.

There are some great pictures below of a life changed!

If you would like to help out with the expenses of this project, please feel free to donate online, Link, or give me a call at 1-877-382-0777 Ext. 235 and ask for Cliff.

An Introduction

The purpose of this blog is to be an extension of the way I communicate about opportunities that emerge to help feed and care for children all over the world. Bookmark this site and check back every week for the things that you might be able to give to through FTC Canada.
